Discovering the Art and Inspiration of Yves Saint Laurent at the Museum in Marrakech
The Yves Saint Laurent Museum Marrakech, also known as the Jardin Majorelle, is a must-see destination for fashion lovers and art enthusiasts visiting the city of Marrakech. The museum is dedicated to the life and work of the famous French fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent, who was inspired by the city of Marrakech and its vibrant colors and patterns.
The museum is located in the Jardin Majorelle, a beautiful garden that was created by the painter Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s. The garden is a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city and is filled with exotic plants, palm trees, and a large pond with a central fountain. The garden was purchased by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé, in 1980 and they restored it to its former glory.
The museum is housed in a beautiful traditional Moroccan building, which was once the studio of Jacques Majorelle. The museum displays a collection of Yves Saint Laurent’s sketches, fabric samples, and photographs, as well as a selection of his haute couture designs. Visitors can also see the studio where Yves Saint Laurent worked and created many of his iconic designs.
The museum also features a research library, which holds a vast collection of books and documents related to Yves Saint Laurent and the history of fashion. Visitors can also see a collection of Berber jewelry, which Yves Saint Laurent collected during his many trips to Morocco.
